SG at Cannes 21st May [ Posted on 28 May 2010 ]
With a concluding note today I must say that Undoubtedly Cannes is the land for film Directors and film makers where directors are positioned on the top at all levels.
Yesterday was My last day at Cannes for the season for films from all over world. From ridley scott-russel crowe 'robinhood' to Korean emotional film 'poetry' about a grandmother going to sell herself to pay for her grandson crime. and the other Korean family drama film 'housemaid' about a rich åç falling in love with maid servant and a japanese film 'outrage' about japanese mafia power by director takeshi kitano and chinese film 'Chongqing blues' about the impact of paternal repeated absence on your child. and an Iranian most talked about film certified copy by director abbas kiarotami, a star of film festivals tells a love story between English author and French woman, an art galley owner .
And our Indian film 'udaan' was shown in 'un certain' regards section of films to be honoured but not for competition. The film is directed by vikramaditya motwane on anuraag kashyap script with a story of home returned rohan pushed to work as an engineer in jamshedpur but with his passionate dreams to be a writer. I had a lovely meeting with anurag who is urging to make profitable films than only films appreciated by niche audience. He expressed his wish to me. I agreed with him that it is too difficult to make a film both classic and commercial hit together.
Anyway, I had to say bye to cannes city by visiting every corner of cannes, the beach in morning for my own story , the afternoon to see an italian film 'La rostre vita[one life] in competition section about a young father[30s] whose beloved wife dies leaving three cute kids in his melting job position … a good emotional film with great performance by lead actor Elio germano. I loved the film.
Now comes evening, I stroll with my young friends from shop to shop to buy small gifts for my old friends. I am bad buyer once I am in a shop. I buy anything and every thing but small cute items. Also i love my family. so I bought few cute t shirts for my kids of 9 years old muskaan and 3years aanya though I forgot their sizes.
I did some serious buying of books on cinema, the posters, the pictures, the dvds and so on for my whistlingwoods school in Mumbai. I always buy something for wwi library and I love it. I am deeply emotionally attached to this dream school where I can see brilliant young film makers who would be making films for international market. You will find stars actors, film makers, animators with in five years. Promise!
Thank You Cannes for giving a great time. |
